Podiatry
The origin of Clínica Matilde Torrado is podiatry. We have been caring for our patients’ feet for over 30 years, with a close approach and personalized treatments, from children to elderly people, athletes, diabetics, etc.
In our clinic, we handle the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of foot conditions and deformities. From the most common problems: hard skin, calluses, plantar warts… to more complex treatments.
Clinical Cases
Discover some of the treatments we perform in consultation. We analyze each case individually to offer effective solutions that improve the health and well-being of your feet.
Consultation / Chiropody
It consists of the prevention and treatment of calluses, hard skin, nail alterations, and skin conditions. An essential care to maintain the health and comfort of your feet.
Mycosis
It is an infectious disease caused by fungi or viruses that affects the skin of the foot (such as athlete’s foot) or the nails (onychomycosis). Early treatment prevents complications and improves skin health.
Onychocryptosis (Ingrown Toenail)
It is a common injury caused by the rubbing or pressure of the nail against the periungual skin. It can cause pain, swelling, or infection. We offer various types of treatment depending on the severity of the case.
Plantar Papillomas / Wart
It is a common condition caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). It can appear alone or in clusters and should be treated as soon as possible to prevent contagion or complications.
Nail Reconstruction
Aesthetic and functional treatment for nails damaged by trauma or infections such as fungi. Restore the natural appearance of your nails with adapted materials and professional techniques.
Infiltrations
A technique used to relieve persistent pain in different areas of the foot and improve mobility. Indicated in inflammatory or chronic cases, with quick and effective results.
Consultation / Chiropody
Chiropody consultation is a fundamental treatment for regular foot care. It includes proper nail cutting, filing, removal of hard skin, calluses, helomas (corns), and general skin review. A valuation of the nail condition and possible dermatological alterations affecting the patient is also performed. It is ideal for people with mobility issues, athletes, diabetics, or simply those who want to keep their feet healthy. Regular visits are recommended to prevent complications and enjoy a more comfortable, secure stride free of discomfort.
Mycosis
Mycosis is an infection caused by fungi that can affect both the skin and the nails of the foot. It is very common, especially in humid environments like pools, showers, or in people who wear closed footwear for many hours. On the skin, it manifests as peeling, itching, and redness (athlete’s foot). In the nails (onychomycosis), it causes color changes, thickening, and brittleness. If not treated in time, it can spread and complicate. In our clinic, we perform an accurate diagnosis and offer topical, oral, and/or mechanical treatments to eliminate the fungus and restore foot health.
Onychocryptosis
An ingrown toenail is a common condition where the edge of the nail grows into the skin of the toe, causing pain, swelling, and even infection. It usually appears on the big toe and can be caused by wearing tight footwear, improper nail cutting technique, or anatomical predisposition. In the initial stages, it can be resolved with conservative treatments, but in more advanced cases, minor surgery (matricectomy) may be necessary. Our team evaluates each situation individually and applies the most appropriate solution to eliminate the problem and prevent its recurrence.
Papillomas
Papillomas, also known as plantar warts, are viral lesions caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). They usually appear on the sole of the foot, especially in weight-bearing areas like the heel or forefoot, and manifest as small bumps that can be mistaken for hard skin. They often cause pain when walking, and being in a pressure area, they tend to grow inward. It is essential to treat them as soon as possible to prevent their proliferation or contagion to other areas or people. We use safe, effective, and patient-adapted techniques, including topical, chemical, or curettage treatments.
Nail Reconstruction
Nail reconstruction is a technique that restores a healthy and aesthetic appearance to the nail after trauma, fungal infections, or other alterations that have deteriorated its structure. It is indicated in cases of fractured nails, partially lost nails, deformed nails, or with detachment of the nail plate. We use specific podiatric materials that are resistant and safe, adapting to the shape of the foot and allowing normal walking. In addition to the aesthetic part, this technique protects the affected area and prevents infections or discomfort in footwear. The result is natural, functional, and improves the patient’s quality of life.
Infiltrations
Infiltrations consist of administering medication (usually anti-inflammatories or anesthetics) through a direct injection into the affected area of the foot. They are especially indicated in persistent painful processes such as plantar fasciitis, Morton’s neuroma, bursitis, or osteoarthritis. This treatment relieves pain locally, reduces inflammation, and improves mobility quickly and effectively. It is a simple, safe, and minimally invasive procedure that can be repeated if necessary. In our clinic, we evaluate each case individually and apply this technique when it is justified within a personalized therapeutic plan.
